The Marangu Route is Kilimanjaro鈥檚 only hut-accommodation trail鈥攊deal if you prefer a bed and solid roof over tents. This 6-day version adds a full acclimatization day at Horombo, boosting success for the summit push from Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). The path is well-established, the pacing steady, and logistics simple.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Moshi/Arusha 鈫� Marangu Gate 鈫� Mandara Hut (Rainforest)

  Register, meet the mountain crew, and hike through lush forest鈥攍ook for colobus and blue monkeys鈥攁rriving at Mandara Hut (2,720 m). Optional short walk to Maundi Crater.
  Hike: ~3鈥�4 hrs

• Day 2 : Mandara 鈫� Horombo Hut (Moorland)

  Trail climbs to open moorland with giant heathers and views of Kibo and Mawenzi. Settle into Horombo Hut (3,720 m).

• Day 3 : Acclimatization Day at Horombo

  Easy acclimatization walk toward Zebra Rocks (~4,000 m) or up the Mawenzi route spur, then back to Horombo to rest, hydrate, and prep for higher altitude.

• Day 4 : Horombo 鈫� Kibo Hut (Alpine Desert)

  Gradual ascent across 鈥淭he Saddle,鈥� a broad desert between Mawenzi and Kibo, to Kibo Hut (4,700 m). Early dinner and rest鈥攕ummit night ahead.
  Hike: ~5鈥�6 hrs

• Day 5 : Summit Day 鈥� Kibo 鈫� Uhuru Peak 鈫� Horombo

  Midnight start via Gillman鈥檚 Point to Stella Point and on to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) for sunrise. Descend to Kibo for a hot drink, then continue down to Horombo Hut (3,720 m) for the night.
  Hike: 12鈥�15 hrs total (ascent + descent)

  Final descent through moorland and forest to Marangu Gate (certificates collected). Private transfer to your hotel for a hot shower and celebration.
